When I watch videos they repeatedly have to buffer so I've just done a speed test.

I'm getting 2.77 mbs download speed and 0.92 upload speed.

This means nothing to me but am I right in assuming its crap?

Yep
I wouldn't say it was as good as that! I had a similar problem some time ago. I am with Virgin and they reckoned I should be getting 20 meg download. They were very good and replaced the modem, since when the speed has improved dramatically. If your modem is old, it might be worthwhile replacing it

Hhhmm, thanks. I'm with O2 and my 12 months contract has just ended so maybe ill shop around.
Are the videos you watch in HD? SD should stream just fine at that speed.

Eerrr, I never realised I was such a technophobe but I have no idea.

I tend to just play whatever format they come up in on YouTube (on the iPad if that makes any difference)
I was the same until I complained to my provider, I now have an up to date high speed hub and I am getting 33.84 mbs Download and 1.91 mbs up load, checked on Speedtest.net
We live in the back of beyond and get 6.5 download but only 0.5 upload.
You are very lucky! - we are getting 1.3 download & 0.5 upload - watching anything on iplayer is a joke!!
