anyone about can help with this please?
I'm not a techie but I'd tell her to plug it back in and let it get on with it. I have very slow broadband speed in my area and updates do take hours. Once I switched of a Windows update for the same reason and it knackered the whole system and I had to send it off to be rebuilt.
Also not a techie, but I agree.

Plug it back in and leave it alone. Sometimes these updates take ages.

thankyou now sorted she held in button to switch off....all seems to be ok now updating gone
dont turn off of it installing updates these are essential files for your saftey on line
Some a window that requires you to press "OK" can be hidden behind the main updating window.

If it happens again tell her to move the large main window out the way and see if there is a smaller one underneath waiting for a response.

It is good that you are happy.... but our computer safety we should not turn off our computer while Windows update, it may corrupt Windows.
