Have you checked that the sound is not Muted via the Windows sound icon or the sound mute button located on the function keys Fn + F6 key combination? There are also Fn + 'Sound Up icon and 'Sound Down Icons'

Also check that you have not been suddenly and inexplicable struck deaf.
