The plate in the oven has stopped turning (and anything placed on it).
the little wheels under it go round OK. Is it possible to cure it?

Make/Model ?
I'm pretty sure there is someone who can repair it but maybe it's something as simple as the plate being wet or greasy meaning that the wheels are slipping.
I had something similar with my Bosch micro. Take the plate out and turn the oven on at low power for a few seconds. The point is to see if the plastic piece in the centre, which the plate locates on to, is actually turning.
If it is then it may be that the plastic piece is slipping on the motor shaft when the plate and food are in the oven.
On mine I was able to pull out the central plastic piece, give it a few drops of super glue, and put it back. It has worked now for many months.

A word of warning - this is a do or die solution. Once superglued on the plastic piece and hence the motor would be very difficult to replace.
is there any food stuck in the turntable mechanism?

Btw if you put your make and model into google + manual, the manual for your machine might come up, then you can look in the troubleshooting section.
Don't ask me how it occurred but I cannot do without my microwave oven. I have a spare one in the loft in case the one I am using packs up. How sad can you get?

Has this happened just the once? Maybe you have not put the tray on the turntable properly.
