I recently got banned from a msg board that i have been using for some time.It was nothing that serious i got into a stupid arguement with the main moderator (he's the guy that runs the board) over there & he banned me.

My question is, orginally i signed up to the board using my home computer so they would have my ISP address.If i was to sign up to the msg board again on a different computer that had a different ISP address but still visit the msg board using my home computer.Would they be able to tell it was me.

For example when i visit the board using my home computer is it that ISP address that shows up or is the ISP address from the computer i used to register with?.

I've already spoken to 2 of the mods via email who have said themselves that i shouldn't have been banned over a stupid arguement.They have told me that if i rejoin the board under a different name they won't say anything.

I think you are referring to your IP address and not ISP (internet service provider).  Each time you visit the site your IP address will have changed so I dont think this person would be able to tell it was you.

Give it a go and see what happens, if his detection skills are that good he will refuse membership of the site.

Thanxs for the answer Mrs Pegasus

Is there a big difference between ISP & IP?

I'm not too sure what you mean by your IP address changes everytime time you visit the site.

ISP = (BT  AOL   TISCALI ect).......Theses are the people who provide the gateway to the net and you pay for their services.

I.P. = (Your Internet Address)......Identifies your P.C.

Have you tried creating a new user name?....It's possible that you have been user banned rather than I.P. banned?

There are Two types of I.P. addresses Static (stays the same) and Dynamic (changes on logging on)....Call or Email your ISP and ask what you have, if it's static get it altered!

They will be ablr to tell it's you if you have chosen to 'automatically log on' or 'remember me' (ie, the site recognises it's you without entering any info). To stop this happening, you will need to clear your cookies from your browser.

lol OBonio............

Clear your cookies...Now that'll really alter your IP...Such trash!!!!....Pathetic answer!
