Further to my previous threads I still haven't managed to solve my problem. When I type on the internet and also in Open Office, since I have had a new hard drive, the letters suddenly jump back and part of my word is formed a few words behind ... Hope this makes sense. Also when I hover above the keys I suddenly get a different screen. I am not touching the touch pad at all but I do type fast. This is so annoying and I am continually deleting and retyping words. Help !!

I have Windows 7 and cannot find anywhere to change 'sensitivity' of keyboard on my control panel, if that is the problem.
To find and adjust the touchpad's sensitivity settings, open Control Panel and find the mouse settings. Click Mouse ->Device Settings (tab) -> click 'Settings...' ->expand 'Pointing' ->expand 'Sensitivity' ->click 'PalmCheck'. Make your adjustments, then click OK all the way out. I hope this helps :-)

I'm not using a mouse. I can go into Mouse Properties then I get Buttons; Pointers; Pointer Options; Hardware. But I'm not using the touchpad (if this is what you use instead of a mouse?), just the keys on the keyboard.
Your description of the cursor jumping back while you type, makes sense to me. The only way I am aware of to rectify it, is to adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad, and I'm sorry that it doesn't work for you. I hope you get suggestions from other people on AB who have more technical knowledge than me! Good luck. I honestly don't know what else to suggest :-(
You need to install the proper drivers for your touchpad to get access to all the functions.

To say much more (such as where you'd find the drivers) we need to know the make and model of the laptop
Oh Lord it is difficult enough coping with tech and PCs as it is without using laptops with touchpads. Just asking for trouble. Can you not just switch off the touchpad altogether at the settings ~? The you would just have the natural viciousness of the tech to cope with.
