Please can anyone advise me, I have downloaded 90 photos from my camera to my computer into a new folder in "My Pictures" - I have called the folder correctly but each individual photo has the wrong description underneath as I forgot to change it when they were being downloaded. Can I change all the photos at once to match the folder title or do I have to rename each individual photo with the event when it was taken ....... surely not? (groan!) :( Thanks.

There are a number of programs that will rename a load of files for you.

I have never used one so cant say what one to use.

Search under "batch rename program" or "bulk rename program"

Whatever one you do use, make sure you take a copy of all the photos before playing around with them in case it all goes wrong.

Here is one program I found, no idea if it is any good (there are loads of other program which do the same thing).

The other option is to download the pictures again with the right name.

However if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 it wont let you download the pictures again if you have already downloaded them.

There is a way round this though, as Windows keeps track of all the pictures downloaded in a "hidden" file. If you rename or delete this hidden file then you can download all your pictures again.

The instructions are a bit complex (you have to un-hide files in Windows and locate the "hidden" file and rename or delete it).

However if you want to give it a go I can give you the instructions.

Thanks VHG I took the easy (but lengthy) option and downloaded them all again (I'm on XP so it let me!) Thanks a lot :)
I have been using Advanced File Renamer for mp3 files for years.

Very easy to set up

Thanks peternut - will check that out tomorrow. :)
You probably already have enough options but someone put me on to this a few years ago and I've found it useful on occassion.
