I have a sing-along feature on my website (words and music). When I check it on my computer, whenever I change to another page the sound volume shuts down and I have to reopen it by going to 'Volume Control'. Not a serious problem but I would like to stop this happening. Advice appreciated. I have Windows XP and IE8. The volume control panel shows Realtek AC 97 Audio.

That's normal. if you want the music to keep playing you have to open the new page in a separate window or tab.

That makes sense Vascop thank you, but I would have hoped for some means of setting the volume level whether or not sound was actually playing at the time.
This must have to do with your web page. Can you show here the HTML you are using to create the sound.eg
<audio>....</audio>
<embed> etc
