Disconnect BT Hub?

Hi
is there any way I can use my desktop (with absolutly no connection to the internet) using only the tower and not having to remove the power plug from the BT Hub because this affects my BT Vision.
Can i fit a switch to the ethernet from my Hub to the tower?

Errrm, pull the network cable from the back of the computer (or just go into the network settings on the computer and disable the network card)
