my advent firefly desc top pc turns on for a split second them goes dead, you have to remove power completely for a few seconds before it will even attempt to do the same.both fans start to turn, but only as if they have been given a quick blast of power. is there an underlying problem or as my psu gone faulty. many thanks for any help.(ps if it is psu can anyone point me in right direction for replacement, looked on ebay and drew a blank)

Chances are it's not the PSU. In my experience, these die completely, by which I mean that it would be very unusual indeed for it to give even a split second's worth of power.

Firstly, unplug everything and take it outside. Then remove as much of the case as you can and give it a serious clear out with a canister of compressed air.

Then, gently rock any expansion cards in their slots to check that they're securely seated. Do the same with the RAM chips.
