My partner has just got the iPad 3. She wants to connect iCloud with the iPad and her 3GS phone but it seems to be causing problems.

Is it possible to to get iCloud software on the 3GS, as it's quite an old phone???

Also, whenever she logs her phone onto iTunes to sync, it always seems to add old photos and apps she doesn't actually want. Last time she synced it added about 100 photos and there is no option to delete these on the phone or through iTunes.
And it has done the same thing on her iPad with old apps that were on her phone. It's just added those.

Not the most technically gifted so bare with us on this?

I have on older iPhone and an iPad 3 and mine can 'talk' to each other using iCloud (the iCloud was already on the iPad 3 and I just installed itonmyphone ages ago).
She needs to update her iPhone to the latest operating system via iTunes, the photos seem to be from photostream which basically synchs any photo taken with any i-device with all the others attached to that iCloud account, the latest OS on the iPhone/iPad allows deletion of photos from photostream. The apps thing is because you've either got 'sync new apps automatically' set in iTunes or there's an option on the phone/iPad to sync all new apps to all i-devices, can't remember exactly where though. If you manually delete all the apps you don't want from the iPad they won't come back again.
