HD camcorder to dvd?

I want to transfer HD video from my camcorder to a dvd. At the moment with my dvd recorder I only have AV connection so its very blocky. Is there an HD dvd recorder that will record HD to a dvd that will play on any regular or HD dvd player?

DVD is not HD and it's not possible to record HD onto it... try setting the output on the camcorder to either 640x480 or 720x480 to see if that reduces the "blockiness"
