I would really appreciate any help with this.......my 95 yr old mum has suddenly started getting 'number with-held' calls on her BT landline. She is ex-directory and registered with TPS; she is however quite frail and has very little sight so it's beginning to un-nerve her as she lives alone.
We are wondering how/if it's possible to cut these calls out, especially as they tend to be when she's having an afternoon nap!

Many thanks for any advice.

pay, i think its about £4 a month and have anon call reject and then anyone who withholds the number cant get through, had it for years and wouldnt be without it, that way only people i give my number to can call me

That's great; thank you - is that through BT?
It still wont block the International calls which are the ones that phone the most, I have caller display and these can call up to 5 times a day

Thank you TT - I'll investigate this one :)
i very very rarely get international calls , i think your best best is the anon call reject, any of the providers do it
if your mum has poor eyesight i doubt caller display will be much good
My mother is 90, she gets calls all the time that are withheld or from international sources . we tried the BT thing where witheld are barred, that was costing money and calls were still getting through, and some were trying to get her debit card number. the only answer was either to change the phone number or have an answerphone machine with voice monitoring, that way if its a friend or relative they can speak after the tone and she can hear them and pick up the phone, the dodgy ones hang up immediately. BT used to be helpful and actually monitor the lines, but now they are just out for money and don't care. She has only been in this house for 6 months, and the only way anyone could have got all her details ( some even know her age and tried a bit of flannel, like," you sound wonderful for your age mrs,###" ) was the fact that She is a crossword fanatic and is always entering competitions by post to magazines, who then sell mailing lists/phone numbers to third parties, who then sell them on to the third world etc.
percy.
