Spell Checker

I operate windows XP and have FireFox 9.0.01 as my browser.

Could anyone please tell me how i can stop the spell checker from underling such words as recognise as an incorrect spelling and showing recognize as the correct spelling of the word?

You need to download the English (UK) dictionary from Firefox addons and then enable it in settings.

smart1, you have misunderstood anotheoldgit's post. He is saying it is showing recognise as an incorrect spelling and telling him to change it to recognize.

Thanks for putting me straight Markrae.
I am so silly,I was referring to the spelling of underlining,in my reply.
Perhaps I was being flippant.Should have realised that with people such as yourself,always quick to judge,when it comes to grammar or spelling,that I would not stand a chance.

Thank you daffy654 and Anlyn for helping me out, and what can I say to those others, perhaps they themselves may need some help in the future.

But even though I have downloaded the English dictionary add-on (which I think I had already got) for some reason it still shows that recognise is an incorrect spelling.

Change your default setting to English (UK)- I had to do that on my laptop, I had the same problem as you and found it had been set to English (US).

Right click on the underlined word and add it to dictionary.

AOG, I suspect you've already done this, but just in case:

Go to the Start menu

Select Control Panel

Open Region and Language Settings

On the Regional Options tab, find English (United Kingdom)

Make sure that English (United Kingdom) is also showing in the Languages tab under Details.

Then click OK. I'm not certain, but I think you may have to reboot before it'll take effect.

Solved it, I right-clicked my mouse, selected languages and then selected English/United Kingdom.
