How can one change the speed of the mouse double-click on a Macintosh OS 10.5.8?

I'd expect it to be within 'System Preferences'. I can't see it specifically mentioned here (but it does state that what you'll see will depend upon what type of mouse you're using) but it would probably be a good place to start:

System prefs, double click the mouse icon, and you can change double click speed, scrolling speed, etc.

I'm not sure whether I should acknowledge a reply to my query here, but here goes....!
Many thanks to Buenchico & annadomino for your rapid and very helpful replies. Coming from years in the WinWorld, using iMAC OS does need some time and thought. The link was perfect: I see 'System Preferences' offers quite a number of tweaking opoortunities - and to think I have ADMIN rights...!
