I decided to re-install my PC so burned all my music & videos to DVD. After i re-installed the PC i tried to copy all the music & videos back but after each disk is about 50% done i get the message 'cannot read from source or disk'.

Does anyone know how i can resolve this?

Cannot read the disc contents .. maybe just one file ..
Move them gradually folder by folder until you find the problem.
A burning problem .. or the file damaged to start with, or during copying.
There are copy applications out there that don't crash out on hitting the first problem but try to carry on with other files. Unfortunately I can't recall the names of them now. Try Googling for non stop copy or something simliar.
You're probably thinking of Tera copy.
However, I find it awkward .. it runs all the time as process .. and is probably best not used.
IIRC I think the one I used to use was called YCopy. But I've tried a few out in the past.
Windows is rubbish when it finds a corrupted file on a cd/dvd and tries to copy it. It usually holds the white flag and gives up. You need a specialist data recovery solution.

A few programs to look at:

http://www.cdroller.com/ $39 US

http://www.isobuster.com/ $30 US

http://www.diskinternals.com/order/ $40 US

http://www.jufsoft.com/badcopy/ $40 US

http://deaddiscdoctor.com/ $6 yes $6 but it worked a treat for me.

There are many more.

Google dvd recovery
the cd or dvd was currpted so you have a way to recover your files download dsikdigger and have fun
