When you say wireless do you mean, you pay for a broadband connection over your phone line (or via virgin cable) and you have a wireless router..... or.... do you use a mobile "dongle" from a mobile phone provider?
Or are you piggybacking :-)
I once had a very nasty accident whilst piggybacking...........
So did I....lol

Hiya

Ive purchased a FON, which according to the manual once this FON which plugs into a router at my friends house which is in worksop should give me access to the internet via other FON users. This doesnt seem to be happening as the FON product promises.
And how far away is this "fon"?
OH... just read that again...

BTFON promises you internet connection when you are within range of any BTFON hotspot..

If you are not in range of one it won't work the way you want to use it, if you are only just in range of a BTFON hotspot it will be patchy.

about 14 miles away, but according to the gen i have read about it...because i have purchased it, it actually gives me access to other FON users, who will have also purchased this gadget for the same open access to internet wherever they are.
I thought you would need to be close to the hotspot for signal strength....
LOL...

Yeah.... but if none of the other BTFON" users are close to you then you can't use it.

The range of a BTFON hotspot is about 200meters at best, the fact you are getting it at all means one of your immediate neighbours is a fellow FON subscriber but it sounds like you are not quite close enough to them.
Shows how much I know :-(
Wasn't lol.ing at you, craft...

either cg has been mis-sold the product, or they don't understand what they have been sold at all.
I don't mind you lolling at me Chuck..............
OH, in that case... LOL.

XX :)
From my reading the FON network is just an allocation of a little bit of bandwidth from all BT customers in the immediate area. I was automatically signed up to it when I got my new router and had to opt out because I get such a rubbish speed anyway so can't afford to give any away!
