Acer 6930G laptop freezing after windows booted up?

Hi i seem to be able to boot my acer 6930G laptop up okay but as soon as i try to use a program such as internet explorer the cursor arrow just becomes a blue spinning disc and the whole computer lock up.This happens with all programs although sometimes i may have them working for a couple of minutes.When i try to use task manager to shut it down it doesnt work and the screen turns black.I have tried system restore and exactly the same happens.No error codes either.
