Thats because it is. MS bought it.
This product has just completely b0rked IE for me. Looking like a reinstall to get it working again. Tip : don't remove everything it says to. For comparison's sake, I installed it on my home pc too. It picked up 1 spyware thang. I use Firefox at home. Here, I use IE. It picked up 9 different spyware programs. SpyBot picked up even more. Lesson of the day, don't use ANYTHING to do with MS.
What is going on? Last week on this website I was advised to install Microsoft Antispuware - so I did - now you are saying don't have it - should I keep it  or should I uninstall it - I have Windows XP - and have desactivated Firewall?? Wish I knew what I was doing! Please advise!!!

It is basically the same program, but has some mod's. It is in Beta form at the moment whilst Microsoft iron out the bugs.

The reason SpyBot and Adaware pick up more at times is because they scan the cookies file and will pick up tracking cookies and other files that hide there. Microsoft Anti-Spyware doesn't look at the cookies file.

On the whole it is still a very good program and is highly recommended.

Try reading this article, it's very interesting.

You'll need to scroll down the page to the heading 'Anti-adware misses most malware.'

This is from Microsofts site:-

Current GIANT AntiSpyware users with active subscriptions are advised to continue to use their existing software. As part of your paid subscription, there are platform, support, and functionality features in GIANT AntiSpyware that are not included in the Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) software.

It is similar, but not the same.

netibiza, when you say you've deactivated your firewall I presume you mean the Microsoft one? I hope you still have some other firewall running when you're on the net.

Obonio, i assume you will heed yr own advice by not using MS - I take it your gonna ditch XP for linux!? Didnt think so...
netibiza, I'd continue to use your program along with one or two other free progs (such as spybot and adaware).

If you're really keen, I'd read the article linked to by salamander and pay for the top 2 programs recommended by that author.
If you're a cheapo like me, pay for nothing and stick to the freebies!
