sorry scottie
I have USB ports on my computer and also a USB port on my DVD recorder which works with my TV?
The USB on your TV/DVD is almost certainly for playing saved video files from USB storage devices, not as a direct video/audio input from other systems such as your PC.

You need to use either the S-Video/VGA/DVI/HDMI outputs from your PC to the same inputs to your TV. Answer scotmans question above listing all the ports you have on both devices.
