laptop keys have stopped working...?

on my mums laptop, about 6 of the keys have just stopped working...all in a bunch... P, 0, {, ;, @ -

it was fine the other day and suddenly this has happened... i have taken 2 off an cleaned under them, but theres nothing there.

its a dell latitude c900 or d900...running xp...

any ideas why and what i can do?

You could get a replacement keyboard.

I'm afraid that sounds the only answer. None of mine work - I have to use a plug-in keyboard. This was the result of spilling a gin and tonic over the whole caboodle. I was more upset about the spilt gin than the knackered keyboard!
