I wonder if any other IE9 userhave this problem, namely if I select a website from favourites it immediately gives the white 'not available' screen, and the page only loads when I refresh it.
Very irritating and grateful if any of you boffins have a fix for it.

mosaic, I'm on IE9 - I found that when we moved from IE8, some of the shortcuts on my Favourites list didn't function. All we did was go to the sites we wanted and re-listed them as Favourites - it seems OK now.

adly, this new laptop had IE9 installed when I purchased and IE8 is no longer downloadable.
I know it doesn't help, but I'm getting used to it - I didn't like it at all at first.
Use Google Chrome instead. IE is slower.

Yes Matt, I have Google Chrome, however it will not open my email client so I tend not to use it.
So I'm alone and at sea with IE sodding 9 - what on earth is Microsoft playing at? again.
I cant even upgrade to 9 as my PC won't allow the service pack update!

I'm on IE8 and in recent weeks it has become painfully slow at times and also suffers from the problem you describe which is why I am using Chrome more and more.
IE9 is an update and doesn't come installed with the OS go to Programs and Features open programs click to view your updates and find it and click on it and uninstall it. It goes back to IE8 after that.
why not use different browser, Albags gave me good advice, load Firefox because i was having loads of trouble with IE8, so i did, and no problems, fingers crossed, since.
