I am trying to buy a new PC and I think that I have found one that I like.

This is the one that I like:-

Is this retailer a 'good' retailer?
Does this machine have wi-fi?
Is MS Office starter edition just the temporary version?

I don't want a fancy computer but don't want to buy a naff one either.

There are 6341 reviews of the company (nearly all of them outstanding) here:

Microsoft Office Starter 2010 is not time-limited. Details of what you can, and can't, do with it are on the Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft....ice_2010_starter.aspx

As supplied, the PC can only connect to a router via an Ethernet cable. (That's normal with desktops anyway). If you want to connect it via Wi-fi, you'd need to add a suitable adapter. (A PCI adapter, which needs to added internally, costs £16.99 from the same firm. A USB adapter would cost about twice as much).

Thanks Chris - did you see the message from my little brother (andrew1707) regarding his purchase of cigars on the continent?

I am away to read your links.
There are plenty of desktop units around for £300 so dont feel limited to this one.

It is Ok, but nothing special.

I notice it has Windows 7 Professional on it, which is normally used by people in business. While this is not a problem you are payng more for it so it may be better to find one with Windows 7 Home Premium on it.

Here is a Dell for about the same money, with a better CPU on it

I've bought from Misco, and they're OK to deal with.

Do notice there's no monitor with this machine.
Just looked at that Dell machine - agree with VHG, very much better choice. You don't need Win 7 Pro - put money into the hardware!

VHG and venator - I was impatient and did buy the PC from misco. For some reason Dell doesn't appeal to me - stupid female logic perhaps.

Will no doubt be back in touch once I try and wire it all up and set it up.
I've bought from Misco and had no trouble.

jno - that is good. I wasn't wanting a computer to play games on etc - just a reliable one from a reliable firm.

Now I am getting excited about my new toy!
Question Author
venator - I have a good monitor already. ;-)
Wolf - I thought it was only us boys who couldn't wait to get our hands on the new shiny computer toy!

As I said, Misco are OK, and you should have no trouble with any problems.

Dell is a good safe brand, but they do have their own way of doing things, and you can have trouble installing new bits.

Enjoy!!
I have bought a Monitor from Misco in the past and the service was excellent.
At the moment I am waiting for a delivery this week of a new base unit from Ebuyer, com. You could try them and see what they have?????
