I have a 6 year old laptop and it still works fine. The spec is Windows 7 OS, 1.5ghz Celeron processor, 1gb RAM
However when i watch vids on youtube or other sites, the video seems to 'stick'. it's not free flowing. Some vids are like stop/start animation!
The driver for the VGA adaptor is up to date.
Any ideas? i.e get a new laptop?

Either connection spedd not good enough or hampered by other browsing/dl's.
or PC bogged down with other resources being used up.
Try checking what's running .. especially in system tray .. or opening Task Manager and ending a few known processes of add-on programs .. and try again. That should decide for you.
Basically you are watching it faster than it can be downloaded. If you get a faster broadband that will help. Or try watching at a quiet time, or download part of it (or all of it) THEN start watching it.

However your laptop is fairly old, and only has a Celeron (slow) processor, and only 1Gb of Ram so a better or faster laptop may help.

However even the faster computer in the world cant display video faster than it can be downloaded.
I should point out (if you are not already aware) but EVERYTHING you look at on the internet has to be downloaded to your PC FIRST, before you can view it.

For most web sites this is not a problem as the text and graphics are quite small, so they download quickly.

But video is HUGE (compared to basic text and graphics) so it can take a long time to download.

And if the web site that is feeding it is busy (like say the BBC or youtube), or if the internet network is busy (or both), then it can slow things down.

Some web sites have an option to watch in lower quality, see if that is an option as it will download quicker.
