The picture on my tv has suddenly dropped by about 4 inches and now I can't see subtitles or ticker tape etc at the bottom. Can anything be done?

Put the TV on a stand approximately 4inches lower?

Seriously though, nobody can offer any advice without knowing what make and model the TV is.

My tv is a Panasonic tx28dk1
Isn't there a format button on remote, or a setting for the picture format you can play with?
There are two possible answers to try first - this is quite an old set but they are very reliable - try opening the flap on the bottom of the remote control and press the N button

if this doesn't work try the Aspect button on the remote and alter the settings put it on 16:9

If these don't work please post back again there are more advanced settings you can try (from your remote) I will post details if needed
