Possibly, but when you can subsequently play it is a different matter...

ok thx again mark dvd done and is playing ok (old beatles) movie have a good weekend m8
is burning it in DVD format or is it trying to write it as data to a DVD? I would have thought it should fit easily.
Question Author
dvd format john by the way it has burned it
Of course it's not DVD format.
You started with an avi file .. To change this to DVD format means that the whole movie has to be re-rendered into MPEG2 format .. and the DVD authoring with a software conversion pprogram.
So you are playing the file with a dvd player that will play avi, jpg, mp3 files.
To make a proper DVD requires the conversion program.

DVD format is nothing to do with the burning process.
PS. A 1hr 24min avi file that will play directly as data avi on a home player cannot be nearly 5 Gb.
