Whip and Top and Jacks and Hopscotch
Question Author
I think hopscotch is similar to peevers which we played when I was a kid, we always used an old cherry blossom shoe polish tin.

I've had a totally reminisant day today. Out collecting conkers, playing escalado and we've just had hot pancakes with ice cream and chocolate sauce. :o)
I've never heard of escalado. Peevers was a word my mum used - not sure if we used it too.

I remember trying to master a pogo stick and a hoola hoop/hula hoop - still can't do either of them.
Never heard of Escalado either, but I love playing hopscotch as a child!.............

Anyone remember what I called french skipping, 2 people about 5 ft apart with elastic round their ankles that got raised each time you did the routine without getting caught up (or something like that)

Escalado is a game with plastic horses that you race across a table on a track that you wind to vibrate it and the horses sort of move - you have your own horse in each race and you can bet on the outcome.

My son got a pogo stick for Christmas last year, and the woman next door is brilliant on it - she puts the kids to shame!

Never was any good with the hula hoop, I was such a tall skinny thing, I could never keep it up - no hips!
Yup, I used to love French skipping ! ! Also cats cradle where you had an elastic band between your wrists and used your fingers see how many combinations of patterns you could make withouth the band becoming too tights on your wrists and cutting off the blood supply !

wow! that's cool cartman - the kids are gonna love that one tomorrow :o)

prudie - we used to call that elastics lol

tin can rallyco - was that a shooting game?
NoM - I could open a lego shop - my boys have got so much that I had to add to my household insurance - it's worth about £5k - they have been collecting it for about 5 or 6 years and have some rare sets now.

rainbow, we used to do that with a knotted piece of wool or string.

Anyone remember clackers? The original ones that you could break your wrists with not the revamped health and safety ones.
Loved Jacks! Tried to remember how to play it when I bought my girls some but couldn't remember the rules.
Also loved French skipping. Great at school with plenty of girls around, but when at home, had to use to dining room chairs which could be dangerous at times when doing the complicated moves cos they could sort of 'twang' towards you! lol
Loads of complicated 'bouncing two balls a wall' games, which again I can't remember how to do.
I used two chairs when on my own too! Was also going to mention two-ball, that was a great craze - one, two, three and plainsy, four, five, six and plainsy etc followed by over, upsy, dropsy...
Question Author
I was more of a tomboy hippie but I remember the girls doing all those ball games and clapping games as well
also French cricket where you held the bat in front of your legs and your friends had to throw the ball to try and hit you in the legs with it, if it did you were out....or something like that lol !
