hi,

I am with virgin ISP and my hostname is set by them as blahblah.cable.ntl.com. my local pc hostname is chicken.example.com. Let's imagine that i wanted it to be set by myself. like at the moment if i ping my webserver 'example.com' i recieve return packets from 'blahblah.cable.ntl.com' instead of example.com. If i ping facebook.com i get returns from 'something.facebook.com'. So in general, if i had tons of cash and computer equipment and know how, how would i set my hostname thusly?

Thanks

You can't set the reverse DNS on a virgin connection, you can only do this on more business orientated connections.
