Downloading latest version of itunes - problems

I am trying to download the latest version of itunes without any success....Apparently I need to find the folder AppleSoftwardUpdate.msi. Have hunted high and low without any luck. getting v fed up and wonder if some more computer literate person might be able to help. TIA x

A couple of things: AppleSoftwardUpdate.msi would be a file, not a folder, and the thirteenth letter would be an 'e', not a 'd', so I'm not surprised you can't find it!

Can't you just download iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download/ ?

My mistake in the typo! I already have itunes and want to download the latest version. Not the whole thing again....or would that still work and keep all the tracks I have. Forgive my ignorance but grateful for advice.

Yes, it would upgrade.

However, if you look on the iTunes menus, isn't there an option to 'search for the latest version'?

If you're worried about losing your existing library and settings, simply close down iTunes and make a copy of the libary folder.

On the menu, click "Help" then "Check for updates"

Yes there is an option to search for the latest download but because it cant find the file as stated above it wont download it... Will try doing it from scratch! Thanks for prompt replies!! :)

Still no luck, wont download any newer version...oh well I'll just have to make do!!
