I tend to leave everything plugged in. My dear old mum used to insist on unplugging the telly, just in case we had thunder and lightning during the night. She worried that lightning would strike the telly and it would catch fire.

I switch my microwave oven off when I'm not using it. I read on here - leaving it switched on (with electricity being used to display the clock) uses more power than the actual cooking/warming up/defrosting or whatever.

Hey, that's a good money-saving tip. Does anyone have anymore money-saving tips?
Yep......don't eat...just smoke and drink......

a daily fill of fags and drinks can be pretty expensive. it's recommended to drink at least eight glasses of fluid each day. eight glasses of alcohol a day might be the cost of food for the week. that ain't cheap sister.
I drink Evian water..............
Unplug
she was o.k mrs chappie,we took her to the vet to have her checked..

its a wonder she didn't electrocute herself but the front room was a mess she actually manage to knock the telly over and chewed the wires and all the back of it.over the time we had her she chewed door frames phones so now its a habit i switched the tv off when i go out

Do you remember the advert urging you to unplug everything and shut all your doors? It was a middle class couple flouncing about in their nightwear singing 'have a routine, have a routine, fire prevention, fire prevention'
Question Author
"Get a routine, show your intention, fire prevention, fire prevention
Check and make sure you close every door
We mean, your life could depend on your bedtime routine"

You mean that one? ^^^^

No, I'm too young to remember it. [:o)

Thanks for replies folks. Glad to hear the dog was okay!
I dont unplug the microwave, just the tv, but sometimes leave the wireless box on al night. I honestly dont think that leaving applicances in standby will cost much.
