I have been told that I need a new electricity meter. This is because the meter man (meter plus) has noticed when taking a reading, that it is not a modern digital one, and reported this. Now meter plus are telling me that on behalf of the electricity supplier, n-power that they need to do this \'recertification\'.

Hypothetically speaking if i were to change supplier before this is done will I still have to have a meter change?.

It would suit me better to wait for a \'smart meter\' at a later date. Also i have been told that i will be sacked if i take time off to attend my home when the meter is being changed., though it is stated it is just half an hour but give a time of attending anytime 8am-6pm.... Yes they (my employer) can do this to me as plenty of people are unemployed and waiting to step in my shoes and i have not yet been there a year and have no rights. By the time i get a new job I will take the day off as a holiday or suchlike., and have the meter change then, Not able to take any time off in this job though, as its not an option.

I am on my 3rd Meter in 6 1/2 Years as the last one had gone round the Clock and needed changing. I am with Scottish Power and the change of Meters was efficient and fortunately had no problems with Readings by 'Meter Reader'.
Your Employer on the other hand seems a bit meanminded in not allowing you a bit of time off to see to your affairs.

My meter is on it's second time round and no-one has said anything to me about changing it. It has the digital counters.. Was yours changed purely because of it having gone round once?
As far as I could gather it was because it needed upgrading to a more modern one, even though the Meter they took out seemed more suited. Not sure if Meters that have gone round the clock are still accurate or not, as I am not Technically knowledgeable in that Dept. Scottish Power gave me a Discount on my New Bill to compensate for any discrepancies which may have been caused.
