It appears my home PC has AntiVirus 2008 Spyware. Ive looked online to see how to get rid of it. Basically it says I have to seach the computer for specific files and manually delete them (not all the files show up on the find/remove software option). Is there any other way? It says to download a Spyware scanner, if i already know its there, is there any point in downloading the scanner? Also it seems that we cannot websites without 'a need for payment' page coming up. I therefore cannot see how we can download the spyware scanner..

thanks alot.

Download and save this to your Desktop
http://www.malwareteks.com/FixIEDef.php

Double-click FixIEDef.exe to run.
(Right click and select Run As Administrator if using Vista)

(WARNING:FixIEDef will kill all copies of Internet Explorer and Explorer that are running. The icons and Start Menu on your Desktop will not be visible while FixIEDef is running. This is necessary to remove parts of the infection that would otherwise not be removed. FixIEDef will re-start Explorer at the end of the removal process)

Then download and run this.

Thanks for the links. I have run both of these and cleared 53 infections that was detected. I then ran 'detect all Antivirus 2008 files with SpyHunter the Spyware Detection Tool' from Wiki-Security and it is still finding some infections, only one this time being the antivirus2008 file.. some others looked a bit dodgy.. (but are apparently low risk?!). Any other idea's how i can clear this Antivirus2008?

Thanks very much for your help.
Spyhunter was a bad idea Claire. Although it has been delisted from the rogue Spyware list, Spyhunter and all Enigma Software products are not recommended.
It sounds like you need to be thoroughly checked over, for which there are a number of free forums.
