If you had something stuck in your tooth, what would be the best thing to use that you had to hand to remove the offending little blighter? Would you publicly pick or could you wait till you got home ?

I'd probably use a folded up piece of paper...And definitely wait till I'm home, unless very obvious, in which case I'd retreat to the loo!
12 gauge shotgun

yes, I carry everything around in my bag, sometimes I do my moustache whilst Im waiting
Jules I wouldn't be able to resist trying to get it out, but I would just pull my hat down and stare at my feet so that people couldn't see what I was doing.
I'm off to bed now pet will let you know how the spotty man is tomorrow :)
lol I don't know, just never crossed my mind! Never meant to offend hun. xxx

Although the thought of using someone else's earring has put an end to my chuckles a bit....

well if it was a cucumber for instance, I would make out I was smoking a BIG green cuban cigar

Hope this helps.
LOL!!!
I'd use a toothpick - but not in front of everyone!
a hammer
An unwound paperclip can come in handy.
According to the old fashioned etiquette books it was ok to pick your teeth with a fork or tooth pick in public. I think that these days I would be inclined to discretion rather than suffering in silence. It is just a matter of not being "IN YOUR FACE" about it.
Cheers
