Internet cut off

I have broadband and it keeps disconecting. Only started today, and its happening at random times as well.
My ISP has a no cut-off policy and this hasn't happened before on my computer. Its also a pain to connect to the internet as well. I usually have to change a few setting around and log off and on again sometimes before it will connect.
Help please, Clive.

Which Internet provider is it?
Do you know the model of the ADSL modem you use?
Is it affecting eveything like web, mail etc.?
Are you using wireless to connect?

Very hard to troubleshoot from afar, but might be worth having a word with your ISP if they have a support line this time of the night as there could be issues at their end, on the line or even at the phone company (depending where you live).

Another thing thats worth doing is removing everything from the line except the computer and trying that way. Sometimes other stuff can interfere.

Hi i get the same random disconnections im with AOL its a pain but i can reconnect usually within aminute but still annoying
Have you got filters on all phone points in use, including Sky box?

HI all, thanks for your suggestions.
The problem still remains a mystery but last night i was cut off completly.
I've managed to get back on this morning so i think it was at their end.
Just a suggestion Clive, have you thought of getting a router?
Our disconnection problem was solved instantly when our computer broke down due to hard disk corruption and the engineer suggested he install a router - after repairing the hard disk. That was three weeks ago - and no disconnection....yet!
