I have 4 gold sovereigns to sell in the Cardiff area. Two 1912, one 1914 and one 1918. All in mint condition. I don't want to go through ebay. Does anyone have an idea of what price I should expect? Or even where I should sell them?

very roughly 40-60 each. I've had dealings with Coincraft

who are long-established and honest but are not in Cardiff. Ideally you'd want to show them to someone to get a proper valuation, so check your phone book for local coin dealers.

Thanks for that jno. For some very odd strange reason, I never even thought of coin dealers. I'd been checking out people who bought gold, only to find sovereigns weren't even mentioned. I'm now taking them to a coin dealer in Cardiff on Monday. Fingers crossed!
good luck... I see Coincraft are selling some (older than yours) for about 125; this suggests they'd buy them for about the price I mentioned. That sounds like a huge profit, but you are paying for their expertise in identifying and pricing the coins; also, they may have to keep them and advertise them for some time before they are sold, and run their business and pay the rent etc. So I'm guessing you would get something in the region of 40 per coin. If not, don't be afraid to visit, or just ring up, other dealers and see if they'll give you a no-strings quote.

Just thought I'd let you know that I got 300 for the sovereigns, a tiny gold maple leaf and a tie pin. Quite good I think.
