Hi My sister has been trying unsuccessfully to get connected to broadband. Every time she gets close an error message flashes up saying something about a DSL error. What is DSL and is it something that can be fixed easily or is it a job for BT with the Phone line? Thanks in advance

DSL means "Digital Subscriber Link"
Broadband by phone line is DSL (ADSL in most cases [A for Asymmetric]).
I would, check all the phones in the house have the micro filters on all the cables are in the right place. I'd also shut down the PC and start again (it works sometimes honest!). Also, sounds stupid but check your turn on date has past, they have to manually go to your local BT exchange/hub/wherever and turn it on.
I use BT broadband and there help desk isn't bad, they'll go over every thing about then check the line for faults and generally get it up and running.
