wireless connection

I have the bt home hub down stairs and i am getting 4 mb. which is all my line will support. i have just connected my computer upstairs using a wireless usb adapter, but i'm only getting 300 kbs. why is this? i've never used wireless before so have no idea if this is normal. i've disconnected the down stair pc and it's still the same. HELP

Inteference - Do you have other wireless products in the house? Cordless phones? Sky extra changer box thingy upstairs?

Walls - they can attenuate the signal

Distance - ditto

You may need a more powerful wireless router
