Hello All,

My other half has been selling stuff on ebay recently but has run into a problem.
She sold an item (shoes i think) and posted it off, but the buyer is saying that it has not arrived (it has been a month or so now I think). I don't use ebay much so am not any help to her.
What is you guys opinion, should she give a refund (even though she knows she sent it and the other perhon could be lying) or should she tell them to go and jump.

Not too sure as its not happened to myself but have a look here and maybe you could contact E-bay ?
with hindsight, perhaps a certificate of posting could have confirmed they were sent and the post office do have a compensation facility for this.

Good luck
It's up to you but if you don't offer a refund the buyer can pursue it through ebay and then you could get suspended, they would also leave you negative feedback that can put of future buyers. We have experienced this before and have given a refund and requested compensation from the Post Office but this is a limited amount (26 I think unless you took out additional insurance) and they may not refund as you haven't got a certificate of posting. We always send things recorded delivery which still has a limited insurance but does provide you with proof of whether it has been delivered or not and only costs an extra 64p which you can factor in to your postage charges.
I had the same thing happen to me where I sent off an item and the buyer said he had not received it. I had obtained a proof of postage receipt from the post office and the buyer was aware of this. He asked for a refund but how was I to know he really hadn't received it? so i refused to give a refund. He went through ebay and Paypal who took his side and they refunded him, i was not pleased. They then wanted me to put funds in my Paypal account to cover the cost of the refund which I haven't done as I do not agree with it, so they have since suspended my account so now I just use my partners ebay account to buy or sell, and now I always use recorded delivery.
