Ebay Orders
Does anybody else have this problem that, for me, is becoming an increasing one? I placed an order with a delivery date of Thursday the 8th. The order has been confirmed but now has a delivery date of Tuesday the 13th. I have sent an email but probably, like on previous events, I don't expect an answer.

Hi Vulcan, I'm speaking purely from personal experience as Im an EBay seller with an EBay shop. When a seller lists an item for sale they choose how many days they wish to ship the order by - could be anything from 24 hours to a week. Or longer if it's simply waiting to come into stock. When they actually despatch the order they have to change the status on the order to 'mark as despatched', & that will immediately show the item as having been shipped that day, whether it's actually been posted or not. EBay just assume that as soon as you change that status you have physically posted it. If the seller has a delay in stock items arriving, out of stock etc, then they could accept the order, & then update the arrival date to show a later date, which is what looks like may have happened here. It does happen but you certainly aren't meant to do it regularly. Such as if your listing shows postage within 2 days & you regularly post outside that you can be given a warning by Ebay, or even have your account closed. As for not replying to emails, well that is purely down to the ignorance of the seller. He will have seen them as they go into your eBay account inbox, as well as your personal email account(whatever you registered with EBay). They could well be on holiday but they would still see the emails/messages and be able to reply. Hope that helps??
Because the sellers advertised items will show say 'dispatch within 2 days' as that's what the seller has chosen. He/she could choose dispatch within 5 days or whatever if they wish. Anyway, a seller will generally get more sales if their dispatch time is quicker, obviously. So even if they don't quite have the item ready for dispatch, or may not even have it in stock, if their dispatch time is running out they will often mark as dispatched, to keep their account in order, and then send the item afterwards.
In my experience most online sites have flaws. Only yesterday my attempts to renew a library book got a two-word response "bad request" wich is as helpful as a chocolate fireguard. Today an attempt to order from Royal Mail just disappears into the ether, and I have had to close an account with a food delivery service as the only way I can get it to cancel an order. FAQS and other help features are useless.
