We had Wanadoo dialup on our computer and used it for a short while.  We then changed to Tiscali.  Now, when we start Internet Explorer, we get the error message 403 - Forbidden.  There's also a Wanadoo icon which flashes in the top right-hand corner of the screen and above the toolbar, there's a message which says that the page being shown is 'provided by Wanadoo'.  The toolbar menu lists Wanadoo, but it cannot be activated or removed.  We've tried a file search for Wanadoo, but no results came up and the add/remove facility on Control Panel does not list Wanadoo.  Originally we deleted the Wanadoo files, but not using add/remove programs.

Is there any way of getting rid of Wanadoo?

ok there are a few things you need to do
1. Delete the wanadoo connection - to do this open IE (Internet Explorer) and go to tools (top of screen) then internet options then go to connections, and delete any old connections in there.

2. Disable Proxies (Error 403 Forbidden is usually proxy) - again go to internet options > connections and then lan settings, then uncheck the box use a proxy server for my lan or words of similar effect.

3. The provided by wanado is just a name inserted into IE by the installation provided by that provider, this does not mean your internet is with these, you could remove this but I believe it's fairly harmless and it is a fairly complicated process of changing it.

this should help you get that connection sorted, if you still encounter problems please reply on here and i'll get back to u if u need further assistance, hope this helps, sniper!
Oh dear.. you went to Tiscali. They are the worst isp, most complained about.. whatever you do DO NOT SIGN UP FOR TISCALI BROADBAND.. after 5 yrs with them, being overcharged, etc, I left them.. they lied to me and I had to get OFCOM involved.. It took me 2 months before I could use another ISP for broadband. Take a look on http://www.ispreview.co.uk and look at the complaints section.

You can try windows registry repair pro to sort out your pc.

Thanks very much, Sniper.  The 'Forbidden' problem has now been solved.  I would, however, like to get rid of the annoying flashing Wanadoo ''W' icon in the top right-hand corner - and the Wanadoo messages on Outlook Express, too.  Any ideas for a novice computer user?
i've no idea how you can change that, but personally i'd recommend using firefox instead of IE, because IE is full of holes and is slower anyway :)
