keep on trying to open my bank account details, get so far as logging into
the bank account page, put in passwords etc, so far so fine, but when try and open out account to look at details, whats gone in out, the screen just hangs. The little cursor goes round and round, the message at the top of the screen keeps on saying mozilla firefox not responding. Any notion of why this does it, or how to get this to work
also find that some links will just hang my screen for what seems like an age, then finally open the page i want to look at. Not sure if its firefox or something else? Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried using a different browser Em, it could be Mozilla is the problem.
It seems like the data is not getting back to your PC. It maybe a problem with their website / server. If i were you I'd try later on today. See if it's cleared. But yes you could try other browsers. Or even power off and on your PC/modem, see if it changes anything.

i switched from IE to firefox because had problems, this was on good authority from one or two ABers who said it was better, and for the most part its been ok, except for the last week or so, it's been playing up. I worry about the banking thing, as don't want to open the account to find it empty, or indeed that someone has snaffled my details, but not sure why it just hangs...
Try on IE again...I never have probs with it !
That is an unlikely prospect, but if worried you can always do a full scan with your AV programme, and with things like malwarebytes / superantispyware.

had to power off over and again as the screen hangs, the cursor going round and round it doesn't stop. So power off, then back on, tried logging into bank but does the same thing, it's not just the bank as mentioned but other links.
As at test, try booting to Safe Mode and check if the problem is still occurring or not.

Restart the computer and whilst it is powering up keep pressing the F8 key. You should be presented with a 'Safe Mode' selection menu. Select the option 'Safe Mode with Networking'.

You should then be able to login as normal where you can test if a browser works or not.

nope still doesn't work. logged out computer, logged back in, logged into bank account using firefox, no problem, then try to open the page out to look at each transaction, and it just hangs the screen, the cursor goes round, and nowt else happens. I tried using IE, and had to put all the details back in membership no and so on, it worked, but don't see why it does this in firefox, it didn't before. what a pain in the rear

i did press F8 key when powering up, it seems to have cut the sound on the computer, anyone know how i can at least get that back, as can't hear the music, or indeed any youtube links..
Question Author
anyone help please, as can't hear the sound now...
Have you tried Shutdown and power off of system then power on / restart?

Check that the sound has not been muted or the volume turned down.

Since it seems to be FireFox that you are having trouble with, try uninstalling via 'Windows Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a program'. Then using IE download and install the latest version of Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

You could also try installing another browser such as Opera which is available from http://www.opera.com/

Just incase of any potentail program corruption it also might be worth installing / updating to lthe atest versions of Adobe Flash Player, available from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=JZEFT

and JAVA which is available from: http://www.java.com/en/

shut down, and powered back up, got the sound back, but haven't checked the bank yet. If it's the same not sure why as it worked before. I can log into the banks site, but it's only when it comes to looking at the bank statement, opening out the page for the transactions that it hangs, cursor going around and around. It does work in IE but not keen on switching between two browsers.. talk about faffing about..
