downloading photos/videos from memory card

A problem has arisen, where when I download from my Sanyo Xacti to my computer, it copies photos/videos but deletes everything from the memory card. For some reason when I connect to my computer the usual Sanyo box does not appear but a Windows box with various odd options. Has anyone got suggestions how to overcome this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

I guess the "odd options" is your computer asking you what you want to do. You should choose "browse disk" or whatever it says. If you are copying files from a memory stick and they are being deleted, it sounds like you aer moving instead of copying.
Highlight what you want to copy, right click and choose "copy", go to where you want to paste them and paste them that way. Don't just drag and drop them.
