I always disconnect my modem by pulling out the cabe to it, and often wonder, "am I doing wrong?" I fear that I will be `hacked` if I don`t. Is it ok to do so, or not nescessary? tia

If it's wired and not wireless, I think you are being a bit paranoid.
Just a touch paranoid!

do you have a good reason to think you are likely to be hacked?

Just keep all your PC security up to date and relax :-)

I may be a little paranoid as you say, but one hears so much about bank statements being hacked into that I thought I`d feel better if I asked some advise from my friends on AnswerBank, thanks anyway.
I wouldn't worry about leaving a wired connection left in.
