I was investigating the price of Microsoft Word for my wife to install in her new laptop and discovered, to my surprise, a site from which Word 2007 can be downloaded free!
Anyone tried this? What are the possible dangers?

Most of the websites that offer you a "Free" download are offering you just that, a free download. You will then get a free trial period before you are expected to pay for it should you want to keep it.

As Eddie says download OpenOffice instead. You can get 100% free software from sites such as this. http://www.freenew.net/

Thank you both for those prompt replies.
Also, the website may say it is Word 2007 but when you actually click on it, it installs "destroymypc.exe" or similar and wipes your machine.

Be careful!

Thanks also, another-view. I have decided to give it a miss and have a look at Open Office as suggested.
