multiple email attachments being sent in error

When I send an email with out an attachment the person receives it OK. If it contains an attachment the person receives anywhere from 4 to 8 copies of the email. I have run my virus scan and there isn't a virus found. There must be a virus or a worm in my program, but how do I remove it? Please make it simple because I'm a novice about computers. Thanks
