Does anyone know how I can calculate a percentage in excel, calculating the frequency of letters?
For example, I have a list of 20 questions, of which there can be 5 answers (A,B,C,D,E).
I need to type a formula to work out what percentage are A, what percentage are B, what percentage are C etc.

=COUNTIF(J3:J12,"a")*100/20
Need to put the % sign in the adjacent cell and change the letter for other lines
Sorry, should point out that J3:j12 was the range I used to check it out and will need to be changed too
There is a Percent Style button which will display the contents of a cell as a percentage, so you DON'T need to multiply it by 100 (i.e. value between 0 - 0.99 gives display of 0% - 99%) n.b. the % sign will be displayed in the cell (so no need to put anything into other cells).
