deleting sent messages

please can anyone tell me how to delete sent messages . they usually go automatically after a month. but this is not happening. I have asked on the technology site and was told to cllick on the big red cross at the top of the page or click control=A ihave done this but it will not work. I am a new computer user so please have patience with me. on the ebay help page it says you cannot delete sent messages. I don't want to keep them so what can I do?

is this your email sent messages or your messages sent via ebay.....

Messages on Ebay become their property so they can do what they like. I presume they wish to keep them for any eventual dispute. Nothing settles an 'he says/she says' dispute fsater than written proof.

wildwood may well be right. I went into my ebay account but had none to delete so couldn't try. Is there no box next to each email to check and then press delete?

Contains copies of all the messages you've sent to Customer Support and to other eBay members. You can't delete messages in the Sent folder, but you can copy messages in the Sent folder to another My Messages folder you've created, or forward them to another email address.
