Whenever I play streaming video on my brand new laptop. the sound 'judders'. It sounds almost like when a music CD gets stuck. If I let the video run to the end and then play it from the start, it works ok the second time. The video itself does not judder so it is not like watching a youtube video that stops and starts whilst it streams. As far as I can tell the video stream is fine, it is just the sound. I am a bit peeved as my laptop is brand new, yet I can switch on my old XP laptop and the same streaming video plays fine.Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 578Z.

ACtheTROLL, I remember the days when you used to help people by answering their questions instead of giving some pile of cryptic rubbish for an answer.

If you don't want to help, that's fine, but please don't post pointless answers.
that is a different way round to what it normally is!!

normally the sound is fine and the video stutters!

is it all streaming video, or just the one's you're trying to play regularly?

1st thought, codec problem, try downloading and installing this (klite codec pack)

also make sure you do a full windows update as it may be a directX problem.

2nd thought.... Virus scanner scanning it? what AV do you have?
