What laptop?

There may be battery reconditioning software either on the manufacturers website, or possibly already in the BIOS for the laptop which might help a little bit.

Though if it does improve the battery life it still won't be like new, a replacement battery is the only way to do that
Chuck is so clever.

I'd have said "bin it and replace it"

Dell Lat D620.....have been reconnecting power often to try & build up battery? It's only 2y old!
Best thing to do is get it basically empty, and leave it for several hours.

Then, put it on charge until it says it's charged, then leave it charging for a few hours more.

Then, drain the battery, and do the whole thing again.

After doing this (twice), try using the battery from fully charged. If it still only lasts a short amount of time, it's new battery time.
