dv camcorder to pc connection

I have a Samsung VPD381 camcorder which takes a firewire,but cant connect to my Acer Aspire 3003LMi laptop ,as it just has USB ports..my pc has a type 2 cardbus pc card slot..if I buy a Firewire 1EEE1394 4 pin pc/card ,can I connect the two?
